Ross Greendot sits between Bevan Brown’s (Kōwhai) Bush and Lords Bush, creating a vital stepping stone link between two of Canterbury’s last lowland beech remnants. Supported by Central Plains Water Limited Environmental Management Fund (EMF) and led by Te Ara Kākāriki Greenway Canterbury Trust’s (TAK) guided volunteer planting days and site preparation.

The landowners’ ultimate goal is to forge a continuous wildlife corridor that attracts more birds, lizards and native fauna. They’ve personally planted additional natives around existing gorse islands; as these canopy species mature, they will shade out gorse and suppress its regrowth.
