Dalley.
Improving Biodiversity and Water Quality.
With support from the Central Plains Water Environmental Management Fund (EMF) Mr Dalley is undertaking a staged programme of riparian planting, fencing, and targeted spraying to restore waterways, strengthen biodiversity, and improve water quality.
This work forms part of a 10‑year wetland restoration programme, commenced in 2022, reflecting a long‑term commitment to improving riparian environments through native planting along waterways across several leased sites, including Hombush Road, Deans Road, and Cullens Road. Each site is being progressively restored through carefully sequenced stages, allowing work to continue effectively over time while minimising disruption to farming operations.
The current phase builds on earlier self‑funded restoration efforts, as well as previous support from Environment Canterbury and EMF. It focuses on expanding native vegetation cover and improving the health and resilience of riparian margins, delivering lasting benefits for freshwater ecosystems.
As a lessee managing land owned by a Central Plains Water Limited shareholder, Dalley brings a practical, hands‑on approach to restoration. The project is self‑monitored, ongoing, and designed to evolve in response to available funding, time, and on‑site conditions.
