Background
These landowners aim to increase biodiversity, with a particular focus on birdlife. Their ultimate vision is to plant the majority of their lifestyle block in native species, creating a forest for future generations. The site is located at the bottom of the Hororata Downs and includes a rainfed pond within the planting area.
Planting Day
This marks the second year that Colliers Real Estate has teamed up with Te Ara Kākāriki for planting, with their group of 16 making a great effort. The organisation also provided a shared lunch for the team.
CPW contributed funding for the restoration plan and volunteer planting day, as well as $1,000 towards plants and guards.
Monitoring
Monitored Dec 11th, 2024: The plants are looking lush and healthy, with just two deaths recorded – one hebe and one toi toi – since planting.
