Planting natives in our natural areas plays a critical role in improving water quality and storing carbon. Central Plains Water Environment Management Fund (EMF) has supported Te Ara Kākāriki (TAK) with the planting of 1,400 natives at this Greendot.

Through targeted weeding and enhancement planting biodiversity projects like these challenges are far outweighed by the benefits. Located close to the foothills, near the Selwyn River – with its highly permeable riverbed and deep porous aquifer. Establishing eco-sourced plants into this location add valuable food sources and habitat for native wildlife, including birds, lizards and invertebrates.
